This book is a fine tribute to one of the premiere fighter groups in the USAAF from its deployment to North Africa in January 1943 to V-E Day in May 1945, by which time it was operating out of Italy. The 82nd Fighter Group used their P-38 Lightnings as D'artagnan would use a rapier, with unerring effectiveness in its battles against Axis fighters (the Luftwaffe & Regia Aeronautica), locomotives, and ground installations.
For both the aviation enthusiast and modeller, there is also a bounty of photographs and illustrations. All in all, this book is a winner.
